We here at SP SnapShot™ have had a great time showing off SnapShot 2.0 this month. At the official launch at the Florida Educational Technology Conference (FETC) and the numerous training events and the reaction has been GREAT! It seems the new additions, such as the trend and status reports and the inclusion of the new query options, are a hit. To make sure that you get the most out of SnapShot 2.0, we're continuing to offer free online training. Just contact our staff at training@studentperformance.com.
The end of an era! On May 1, 2006, you’ll no longer have access to SnapShot 1.3.2. Version 1.3.2 will be retired and sent out to (cyber) pasture making way for the full implementation of SnapShot 2.0. Please take a moment on April 30 to say goodbye to version 1.3.2, it has served us all well. If you’d like, feel free to send any gold watches or retirement presents to Kevin care of SnapShot Training.
But enough about the past, let’s celebrate the future. If you haven’t logged into SnapShot 2.0 please do so, we know you’ll be pleased with the changes. We’re here to help if you aren’t feeling comfortable using SnapShot 2.0 or if you have any questions. Don’t hesitate to let us know what you think of the new version. Contact us at training@studentperformance.com or phone 1.866.479.7627.
The 2007 school grade will include the percent of standard curriculum students that are proficient in Science (level 3 and above). It is a good idea to begin tracking this percent now for the 2004, 2005, and soon the 2006 school years so that you will be able to determine goals and strategies in case this is an area where you could improve before next year. The following query will allow you to calculate the percent proficient in Science for 2005.
Divide the number of students above the level 3 cut point by the total number of students in the query and multiply by 100. This is the percent of students that were proficient in Science for 2004-2005.
No, this isn't the new SnapShot football team with a really bad name. By joining this team you don’t need to buy pads or hit people (definitely don’t hit SnapShot training staff!). The SnapShot Data Teams are often made up of an administrator and two teachers. These teams are trained with the knowledge and expertise to train the rest of their school in student data analysis using SnapShot. A full day of face-to-face training at regional training events happens once a year with the teams receiving extra training materials throughout the year. The Data Teams allow SnapShot to efficiently and effectively distribute new information and resources to the schools.
Some of the training for Data Teams will focus on:
The ideal candidates for a school’s Data Team are people who are comfortable with technology, have a good understanding of FCAT test measures, and people who are capable and willing to train their faculty members.
Throughout the summer we’ll be inviting schools to send their Data Teams to regional training events for a full day of student data analysis training using SnapShot. If you have any questions or if you think you’d like your school to host a training event please email our staff at training@studentperformance.com.
