the SnapShot staff thought it would be appropriate to share some ideas on using SnapShot to help you with your holiday celebrations. The following are a few suggestions:
These beautiful and informative drink coasters will ensure your furniture stays looking like new, and they’re easy to make too! Using any of your 4th grade or higher classes, click on one of your students’ names to go to their individual student data. Click on the DSS Reading or DSS Math graph icon. You now have a fabulous graph that shows your student’s incredible progress for up to 5 years.
Just print (you’ll want to cover the student’s name) and glue to a piece of cardboard. You now have a wonderful, informative drink coaster that will be a great conversation starter and a hit at any gathering!
The consensus of the employees here at SnapShot is that the Bar Graph wrapping paper looks best using the FCAT Learning Gains Summary Graphs. Choose one of your 4th to 12th grades or classes and click Bar Graphs. Choose between the Reading and Math Learning Gains Summary. Or use both! Click “Printable View” to print a copy. If you need more paper to cover the gift select the other subject and then move on to a different grade or class. Your friends and family will be impressed at the unique wrapping paper and equally impressed with the high percentage of students in the first six columns making learning gains!
Surprise your loved ones with one of these incredible cards. To make them, select a class or grade from your school and click "Scatterplot Graphs." Select "FCAT SSS Reading vs FCAT SSS Math," though feel free to use any of the other preset graphs or custom build your own. Click "Printable View" to print a copy. Cut to the desired size (be sure to remove the names on the right-hand side), using your bone folder to create a sharp crease fold the paper in half with the graph on the outside (You all have a bone folder, right? If not, talk to Martha Stewart.). Now you're ready to add a personal message or school grade before sending it to that special someone.
Think about all the free time you'll have when the students head home for the winter break. And what better way to spend that time than by taking up needle and thread in the age-old activities of embroidery, needle point and knitting. By selecting a class, clicking Scatterplot Graphs, selecting a favorite preset graph (we've found the FCAT SSS vs FCAT NRT graphs work especially well), and then printing the graph, you create a perfect template for your project. Just think of the joy your family will feel when they receive one of your dazzling and dramatic creations.
Another great use of the individual student DSS graph is to create stunning paper ornaments to decorate your home or give to your students. The following are directions from Karen Thomas for creating a beautiful folded frame ornament.

1. From a student’s individual data page in SnapShot click the DSS Reading or Math icon and print. |

2. Starting with the graph side up, crease (break out the bone folder, again!) the paper vertically, diagonally and horizontally. |

3. Cupboard fold to center. |

4. Keep the model folded and cupboard fold to the center again. (If you were creating a Custom Query in SnapShot you’d be done by now.) |

5. Pull flaps from underneath all four points and flatten. |

6. Fold two points back. Now it should look like a pinwheel. |

7. Lift up all four flaps and flatten into squares. |

8. Fold four top layers to the outside. |

9. Lift a flap and fold back to the center. Repeat on remaining flaps. |

| 11. Cut two photos of the student to 1-3/4-inch square and insert into the frames. Make a small loop with about eight inches of cord and tape to the back of one frame. Glue the two folded frames back to back. Embellish with jewels or beads to finish. You now have an attractive ornament to hang on your tree or to give to your student. |
